Foundamental developed software that directly connects investors with companies. The project focused on improving the usability of the list creation functionality, which is equivalent to a filtering feature.

Foundamental is a Berlin-based global venture capital firm specializing in early-stage investments within the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) sectors.

New interface and components

Foundamental software provides an overview of every active company. Users can cluster companies based on different criteria using various filters.
Sets of saved filters are called “lists” and can be quickly accessed. Users can also subscribe to a list containing the companies they want to invest in and monitor.  Lists are automatically updated as new companies are added to Foundamental database.

Since users often collaborate on subsets of companies, they requested the ability to share lists with each other, a feature missing in the previous interface.

In the previous interface, several elements were not intuitive enough and caused some friction, so new improvements were made:

• Primary call-to-action elements were missing. To guide users on what to do first, a clear plus button for creating lists was introduced.
  
  
• A new creation area now allows users to set up different parameters for their lists.

• The sharing functionality was developed, allowing users to easily edit, share, and delete any saved list through a menu icon.
  

• The list layout was redesigned to improve content prioritization, enhance accessibility, and reduce eye strain.
  
  
• Newly added companies in the database are now highlighted with a more effective label and outline.
