TOOLBAR EDITOR

Redesign of the Toolbar Customization editor. The goal of the project was to apply the newly designed design system to the editor in order to update its old-fashioned appearance and to improve the user experience of workflows by making the editor more intuitive.


Crytek is an independent video game developer, publisher and technology provider based in Frankfurt. CryEngine is a game engine designed by Crytek.

Workflow and goals





New design



The new toolbar customization window is split into two different sections. The one on the left is the part where users can navigate, search and select actions to be added to the toolbars. The one on the right is the toolbar creation and editing area for new and current toolbars. An additional informative and editing section for actions is available at the bottom-right corner.


The advantage of the new setup is to make the toolbar list always accessible to users and ease the creation and editing processes. More intuitive and guiding affordances were added to the interface.
